A native of the Central Asian plateau, the Hircus goat lives at altitudes of up to 6,000 metres. Its dense, smooth and soft underfur protects it from the particularly harsh climate. This is where the precious high-quality cashmere comes from, with an average thickness of 15,000 millimetres (microns), considered to be the finest and therefore softest on the market.
