Description

Ligne Roset presents a steel wire shelving unit that Pierre Paulin invented in 1972. The minimalist design combines a lacquered steel frame with plywood shelves. It is built on a unit with a width of L 70 cm, which can be enlarged as desired. It is possible, for example, to construct a 2-piece 140-cm-long bookcase by joining two 70-cm-long bookcases together using 2 Pierre Paulin-branded nylon connecting pieces, supplied with the frame of each bookcase. Each shelf has notches into which the frame's vertical posts are inserted for greater stability. The shelves rest on small steel wire arches soldered to the posts. The frame is made of painted steel wire with a diameter of 10 mm. Each L 70 unit is mounted on 4 adjustable foot cylinders. The 3-module shelving unit consists of three units of length L 70, connected by connectors, and shelves of length L 210. The shelves are made of beech plywood, 8 mm thick, in a layered finish with woodgrain beams.
